Skills Manager
King Edwin School

King Edwin school is a rapidly improving school, growing in diversity and in the offer it can make to its students.  Over the last 2 years the curriculum offer to students has grown to include a range of life skills and vocational skills alongside the more traditional GCSE offer, resulting in students being able to study an appropriate and meaningful qualification, no matter what their starting point or ability, and in all cases, leading to a worthwhile and appropriate next step, whether that be college, a training provider or directly into employment.

In order to support this growth in diversity, we now wish to appoint  a Skills Manager, who will be a visionary leader for the vocational and life skills area.   The area is currently a pathway for around 20 students, and has 4 full time staff members working to provide the opportunity for students to achieve the very best outcomes.  The post holder will support the success of this area and develop it further with the school senior leadership

The post holder will be expected to hold a 50% teaching timetable, comprising functional skills in English/Maths and ICT.  The remainder of the time will be dedicated to leadership and development activities in this growing area, including supporting the securing of appropriate next steps for the current student cohort, developing work experience opportunities, liaising with agencies to develop new opportunities, recruiting new students and quality assuring the provision generally.
