SOG NE Residential Care

We are currently recruiting for a number of Residential Child Care Workers for our services which include the exciting opportunity of opening new houses.

Applicants should be committed individuals with the ability to provide an inclusive, inspiring, living environment for our young people. The position will involve working with small groups of young people aged 8-18, experiencing a variety of complex needs/parenting experiences. Candidates must have the experience or transferable skills for this role as well as an understanding of working with complex needs. Ideally candidates would have experience of Residential Care and/or Social Work although if you do not necessarily have the experience for the role, however, have the passion for working with our young people and feel you have transferable skills and qualities to do so, we would like to hear from you.

Relevant qualifications are not essential to start, however you will be required to work towards QCF Level 3 when in post.  If you have applied previously and were unsuccessful, we would like to hear from you again if you feel you have gained new skills or experience.

Spark of Genius North East has several small residential homes in Stockton-On-Tees that support vulnerable and in some instances challenging children and young people. Our homes provide a therapeutic environment to support boys and girls who have a wide variety of needs.

The children and young people in our residential homes are educated in mainstream school or in The King Edwin School. This approach allows our young people to live and be educated in separate environments, which allows them to receive more attention and focus than may typically be found in large, residential schools – every child is entitled to a positive living and learning environment.

We aim to instil a strong sense of identity, individuality and self worth in our children and young people. Through our therapeutic and consistent approach we are able to ensure all children and young people receive the most effective care possible. We offer a 24-hour curriculum, providing continual support and guidance to encourage development through consistency and a child centred approach.

Emergency placements

Emergency placements are not offered with Spark of Genius North East, however, we would like to note that when possible we welcome information at an early stage and will consider referrals made at the earliest opportunity to minimise the potential of an emergency situation.

We understand that it is not always possible to plan placements when there is a crisis situation. The need to act quickly in order to be able to meet the child or young person’s needs is paramount and therefore we would strive to accommodate these individuals as quickly and as smoothly as possible.

Short-term placements

Short-term placements may also be available when needed. These placements can vary in length and we would make an informed assessment to accommodate a young person if we thought that it was suitable.

We encourage anyone to contact us if you would like to know any more information about how any of our services can work for children and young people or would like to discuss a particular situation in more detail.
