Spark of Genius Education Services Caledonian School holidays 2017/18

The school facility at Glengarnock was officially opened by Dr Alasdair Allen MSP in October 2012, this is the first Spark of Genius dedicated campus facility encompassing both specialist primary education through secondary to vocational Skills for Work courses. This modern purpose built learning environment suits the needs of children and young people with both social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and children and young people on the Autistic spectrum. Spark of Genius acquired the property derelict and committed significant investment to building the property with local architects, expertise from a Project building planner and our Head of Education so that the specification of the building exactly matched the needs of learners.
Day Education for Children and Young People from Spark of GeniusThe campus has a purpose built canteen area providing healthy menus with a dedicated chef preparing the meals. In the secondary school we have a cinema room, arts room and several modern spacious learning areas. Qualified teachers and Educational Assistants teach Scottish ‘Curriculum for Excellence’ subjects. Adjacent to the secondary building is our primary school facility with active learning and play areas.
We have made several links with local employers who have taken work experience placements in the motor vehicle and parts industry and the forestries. These links have been well established through our vocational ‘Skills for Work’ based courses available to children and young people. The large grounds also has an area at the rear of the kitchen ideal for outdoor physical education activities.

This term significant achievements are being made by the senior pupils who are on target and have completed SQA assessments at Intermediate level 1 and 2.
The schools average attendance this session is over 90%. With a majority attendance rate of 100%.

The facility is listed as a school care accommodation and has close ties to a number of our residential homes in the surrounding area. We accept referrals for both education and care placements or as standalone education placements. Staff can work with a range of young people and learning is tailored to suit the needs of each specific learner.
